Services - Assessment and Therapy

Assessment
To determine your child's specific strengths and weaknesses in their communication and/or literacy, the speech pathologist will need to undertake a comprehensive assessment of your child's skills.

An assessment will be different for every child, depending on their age and area/s of concern. An assessment may take up to 1 hour for a young child but 2-3 hours for an older child, spanning over 1-2 appointments. The speech pathologist will be able to advise you on how long the assessment process will take. Please contact us for our fee schedule.

Upon completion of the assessment, your speech pathologist will discuss the results with you in detail and advise you of the best course of action. You may be asked to follow up with other services, such as a paediatrician or audiologist, if further investigation is required. The amount and type of therapy your child may need to resolve or support their areas of difficulty will then be discussed with you.

Therapy
Therapy is fun! We may recommend that your child receive individual therapy sessions or group therapy sessions to target their communication and/or literacy skills. Each session is tailored to the specific needs of your child; you will also be provided with homework ideas and/or worksheets.

Various school readiness (preschool) and literacy (school age) group programs are run throughout the year during the school holidays. Please contact us if you are interested in any of these group programs.

Limited preschool/childcare, school and home assessment and therapy appointments are offered. Please contact us if you are interested in these services.

Please contact us for our fee schedule.
See "our philosophy" section on our thoughts regarding our provision of therapy sessions.
